Paranormal Warning

i've heard some weird stories coming from jws about the paranormal.

i know about the warnings about items that come from unbelievers -- those don't interest me as much.

what i am interested in are actual experiences in stories of the paranormal you've heard or experienced yourself.

I agree that the stories were rampant back in the day. In the mid to late 70's everyone seemed to be on a demon-kick (Not just the Witnesses, everyone---> now that could be due to Hollywoods obsession with it at the time) We all know that the 70's put out some of the freakiest scariest pieces art, movie, theater etc. I still cringe to think I had to grow up in such a time... thank god the 80's rolled around. ;) My point is: YES, I heard all the JW urban legends and we were scared to death of demons. I think so much so that we may have THOUGHT something or someone was attacking us when, in AWAKE retrospect, I actually think it was paranoia. Our minds were constantly being conditioned of the dangers of demons, smurfs (lol) and anything that the GB didn't want you to look at, but knew YOU WOULD. Good old reverse psychology. That way- you became more and more dependent on THEM.

Whether or not demons are or are not real is not something I even dwell on these days! I am too busy enjoying being free from the micro-management of the WT Corporation.

The most SCARIEST pictures and ideas were planted in my head from the very material that was supposed to make me feel safe and secure... Go figure?

in the late 1990s there was magazine article that asked the question, are jws a secret society?

obviously they said no, because they claim to be transparent to outsiders and new members.

but they really are not transparent at all.

Well at least they were thinking of the brothers when choosing the parts. Thank goodness for that huh? lol Sisters didn't get left out either with that hottie who played the modern day Job. HunK-O-licious.

On a serious note- I would love to know more about the JW's who played these parts. You know there's way more than meets the eye.

elders certainly vary in skill level, understanding, compassion or even knowledge of the talmudlike watchtower rules.

I had been publicly reproved and had my so called "privileges" taken away. It was a GREAT BREAK from giving talks etc! haha But over time, I was wanting to at least comment at the WT since you were judged accordingly. A WHOLE YEAR had lapsed and when I asked the elders- one had the nerve to tell me, "Oh, yeah, we were wondering when you were going to start commenting again." ???? HELLO. No one consulted with me or told me I even COULD comment again... come to find out, I supposedly had my privileges back for over 6 months but was never informed. Yeah... so...

so my wife is really nervous about having lunch with her mother today.

she is an über-dub who is always asking probing questions as to our spirituality.

i think she knows that we are fading out.

Understand what you are going through as I am suffering the same. It's all going to depend on how important fading out is to you and how much you guys can actually handle when it comes to "pretending."

I am to the point where it has become increasingly hard to lead anyone on that I am still going to the hall (we did the switch to new congregation bit) simply because as more time passes- the stronger I have become outside of this sick cult. Yes, sick CULT.

Avoidance becomes almost impossible- so you have to be strong in the conversation. Dominate it with POSITIVES on your life and the world around us. Talk about the amazing things science has done or something they cannot argue. Use logic and just steer the conversation around every nosey question.

Keep researching during your fade and stay strong. Hope it all goes well! You are not alone thats for sure!!!

Could we use the new shunning guidelines to our advantage?

according to new, officially published guidelines, jws can now shun a person who has not been disfellowshipped from the congregation.

i see this guideline being abused by many jws who have an axe to grind with a fellow jw.

for example, let's say sister peinindiass rubs sister sensitive the wrong way.

Expect to see "new guidelines" soon in the written pages of the almighty Watchtower. Remember, after each summer convention- the talks will be broken down into palatable bites of "rich spiritual food" for all to enjoy. Highlights, including new light and new RULES will be, once again, served to the masses for instant regurgitation and application. I fed at this table long enough to know how it all works... the so called new guidelines on shunning inactive wrong doers WILL BE IN PRINT SOON. Look for it... its coming.

Hi! Thanks for sharing your story and intro. You are not alone! I have a similar experience- especially the part about the elders treating me like an infant and I am over 40+ years old! Seriously? I need them to consult my husband first?? Urghhh. Welcome to the site and look forward to hearing from you again soon! ;) Be cautious but not scared to join discussions- there are a few lurkers on here who would love to out anyone who is trying to fade...

- in which european country, not member of the eu, and well known for their banking industry, jw.org and some affiliated structures do maintain some business incorporated structures and companies?.

- which is the purpose of these business and company structures?.

What's up Doc? I think you may have misunderstood my post. I meant it for the originator, not your comments. I happen to agree with what you said- However, I don't agree with people posting mysterious stuff just to get attention... and it took skimming through to see that most people agreed with me! ;)
